You've probably seen Master Gardeners at the county fair, a farmer's market, or a community home and garden event. But what is a Master Gardener? Master Gardeners are trained volunteers with the University of California Cooperative Extension program; they provide practical scientific horticulture and gardening information to gardeners in their communities across California.
Here in Tuolumne County, over 75 trained Master Gardeners answer your gardening and landscaping questions and host a number of activities including the annual Garden Tour and provide classes that are held at our Demonstration Garden.
In addition to the traditional emphasis on general gardening and landscaping, Master Gardeners also focus on water conservation, backyard composting, and alternatives to chemical use in lawns and gardens.
