The Tuolumne County 4-H Youth Development Program offers many fun and educational activities for its members. When you join a community club, you can make new friends, learn about raising animals, be involved and make a difference in our community, be a leader, learn public speaking and record keeping skills, go to camp, create things for everyone to enjoy, and go on exciting trips!
A variety of projects are offered in large and small livestock: beef, dairy goats, dog care, exotic birds, guide dogs, homing pigeons, horses, meat goats, poultry, pygmy goats, rabbits, sheep and swine. Some of our non-livestock projects include cake decorating, community service, crafts, foods & nutrition, gardening, golf, home arts, knitting, photography, public speaking, Relay for Life, rocketry, sewing, and shooting sports - archery & rifle. Club activities occur afterschool, evenings and weekends.
Regular membership in 4-H is open to youth who are 9 years old or in the 4th grade (in public school) as of December 31 of the current school year. Youth may remain 4-H members until December 31 of the calendar year in which they turn 19. Tuolumne County 4-H takes younger children age 7-8 (as of December 31) as primary members. See the September newsletter for policies for primary members.
Teens can have fun and be challenged in 4-H too. It isn't just for younger youth! Some activities for teens are Hi 4-H club, the Hi 4-H Haunted House, Teen Retreat, LCORT Regional Conference and State Leadership Conference. In addition, teens hold many different leadership positions.
4-H Council provides educational events for all members in all clubs throughout the year.
The seven community clubs listed below are all open to new and returning members. Parents and adults are encouraged to become volunteer 4-H leaders. For more information, see the monthly Tooter newsletter or contact the 4-H Youth Development Program Manager at samoore@ucdavis.edu or 209-533-6990.
